Rosehip oil is a nutritious oil pressed from the seeds contained inside the wild rose fruit. The oil does not come from the same part of the plant as rosehip tea and rosehip based foods, so it has different nutritional qualities. Rosehip seed oil is a naturally rich source of essential fatty acids 3, 6 and 9, vitamins A, D and E, and antioxidants.
Rose hip oil can be used for all skin types but if it is used neat without jojoba, on some skin types rosehip oil can lead to clogging of skin. Pores close when pure plant oils are applied. Sebum can no longer flow out so it backs up and congests pores, often leading to breakouts.
Also, as a nutritious oil, rosehip is designed by nature to readily break down into its nutritional components. This is what causes pure rosehip oil to readily oxidise or go rancid.
